**"Het Gele Kasteel"** is a digital artwork that brings a sunny afternoon in Utrecht to life. At its centre is the iconic PhRM building, also affectionately called "the Yellow Castle". The façade shines in an intensely warm, almost golden yellow hue, captured by the bright light of a beaming sun that envelops the city in a summer glow. Shadows fall sharply on the pavement, where daily life is visible in tiny details.
On the pavement in front of the castle is a carelessly abandoned bottle of beer, gleaming with sunlight. The bottle forms a subtle human counterpart to the monumental architecture: a small trace of presence in an otherwise serene scene. The combination of the historic building and the everyday object creates a tension between grandeur and simplicity, between timelessness and transience.
The composition of the artwork plays with contrasts: the solid lines of the building versus the transparency of the glass; the massive stone walls versus the fleetingness of a sunny day. The colours are bright and saturated, with a predominantly yellow-blue palette underlining the warmth and openness of the afternoon.
"The Yellow Castle" invites the viewer to dwell on the beauty of the ordinary and the poetry of the moment. A single image tells a story of urban pride, human presence and the fleeting splendour of sunlight on stone.
