About The Hazel Perspective

My name is Marcel Häselhoff, a photographer and artist from Bottrop. Under the name ‘The Hazel Perspective’, I share my personal view of the world – through the lens and on canvas.

Photography has been a part of my life since childhood. I am fascinated by how light, perspective and the right moment can make a familiar place appear completely new. I find inspiration in nature, in landscapes and, in particular, in my home region, the Ruhr area. Amidst coal mines, steelworks and urban life, I discover subjects that possess history and character. I aim to capture this atmosphere in my pictures and bring it to life.

In my art, I give free rein to my love of experimentation. Using mixed media, pouring and spray techniques, I create works in which colours flow into one another, structures break apart and new forms emerge. My work ranges from abstract colour compositions and cosmically inspired visual worlds to motifs from the animal and plant kingdoms. I’m also fascinated by the unpredictable: an entire picture can develop from a spontaneous idea or a chance colour gradient.

For me, photography and painting are united by the joy of discovery. Both give me the freedom to look more closely, to express my thoughts and to explore new perspectives.

I hope that my works invite you to discover something too – and that you find a picture here that moves you, brings back memories or simply brings you joy every day.
