Karen Lehmann and Simone Lehmann have been graduate designers and artists since 2004.
The sisters have been working as freelance designers, artists and art directors in Cologne and Berlin for over 25 years. In 2019, they founded their label Lousissyartsister Project with a focus on painting. Their acrylic paintings combine graphic elements with intuitive free and abstract painting.
In 2019, Karen and Simone Lehmann started their sister project "lousissyartsister" and experience the creative process in paintings that complement or repel each other. This can be seen in the painting process or in the combination of individual pieces of canvas by both sisters. It is about the composition of the surfaces within the surface, the interplay of surfaces with each other, the effect of form and colour, the combination of harmony and disharmony. Perspective or figurative elements hardly play a role: the pictures are created through the juxtaposition of harmonious and disharmonious elements, different structures such as surfaces, circles, lines, which have their origin in fleeting glimpses of the patchy, simultaneously dark and light city. Abstract motifs of torn corners, sticker remnants and decay are used - with blurring. All of this is reassembled like a collage.
