Flower of Indonesia
Flower of Indonesia is a celebration of the extraordinary botanical beauty found across the Indonesian archipelago, from the humid rainforests of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua to the volcanic highlands of Java, the cultivated gardens of the countryside, and the flowering landscapes of the eastern islands. The collection explores flowers in many forms and environments: delicate orchids growing among tropical forests, fragrant jasmine cultivated in Central Java, graceful kenanga and champaca, the silvery Javanese edelweiss of mountain landscapes, remarkable Rafflesia emerging from the forest floor, tropical pitcher plants, hibiscus and many other flowers that reflect the diversity of Indonesia’s natural world. Each artwork is inspired by the character, habitat and natural beauty of Indonesian flowers, combining botanical subjects with quiet landscapes, cultivated plantations, atmospheric forests and minimalist compositions. Some flowers appear in their natural environments, while others are presented as intimate botanical studies, allowing their shapes, colors, leaves and textures to become the focus. Flower of Indonesia is an ongoing collection dedicated to the connection between flowers, nature, place and everyday life across the archipelago - a visual journey through Indonesia’s tropical forests, mountains, gardens and cultivated landscapes.
