Recently, I was back on the beautiful Wadden Sea island of Ameland, which I consider a kind of second home, as I have been coming here since I was a child and because my father was a teacher we went here several times a year on holiday.
Since I started taking photography, I see the island with different eyes than before.
In recent years, I have seen a number of photos's of a sailing ship that let itself dry on the beach of Ameland when the tide went out. This was something I always hoped for when I was back on Ameland during my holidays but unfortunately it never happened. Until the last evening of my last holiday. Yes, finally there was a sailing ship on the beach near Hollum, so I quickly drove there. I chose a nice composition and was lucky with the sky because it was getting cloudier and cloudier, and started to close in. In the end, super satisfied with this beautiful image and hope it gets a nice spot on your wall.
