Zierikzee town hall on Meelstraat in the old town.
Concerns a digital line drawing in black and white with a black line as a border.
It is a line drawing made from a photograph I took. By converting the photo into a line drawing in black-and-white, the whole gives a nostalgic and timeless image of beautiful, picturesque Zierikzee.
The town hall is a national monument and was built in 1554. The showpiece of the town hall is a golden weather vane that has adorned the tower of the building since 1554. The weather vane represents Neptune with his trident. Neptune, according to Roman mythology, is the God of the Sea. Recently, the weather vane was given a new coat of gold leaf and has been shining again on the old town hall since 17 March 2025.
Currently, the town hall is used as a museum. The Town Hall Museum is the municipal museum of Schouwen-Duiveland, in the Dutch province of Zeeland, which tells the story of the city of Zierikzee and of the island of Schouwen-Duiveland.
