About ‘ZERO SPIKES. 100% PUFF’ by Victor Weijers

Zero Spikes. 100% Puff transforms the iconic pineapple - a fruit normally known for its hard, prickly exterior - into a completely softened and stylised fashion object. In this interpretation, all sharp edges and natural textures are replaced by a deep-purple, quilted puffer texture, making the pineapple both recognisable and completely alienating in one fell swoop. The quilted 'leaves' enhance the playful nature of the work: where the real pineapple is pointed and inflexible, this sculpture looks soft, flexible and inviting.

The sleek studio environment and fashion-like design immediately evoke associations with high-end winter collections - as if this pineapple were part of a couture runway for objects. The contrast between its tropical origins and winter puffer texture creates a visual dialogue about form, context and absurdity.

The result is an artwork that makes the viewer smile, but at the same time invites us to think about how material choice can completely redefine our perception. Zero Spikes. 100% Puff symbolises a world where everything is allowed to be softer, more playful and fashionable.
