Tyskerhavnen - Translated German harbour
Tyskerhavnen in Hvide Sande is an idyllic little harbour where tourists in houseboats have joined the fishing boats in the harbour.
This small harbour is located on Ringkøbing Fjord and was founded around 100 years ago.
The German harbour was built as a port of embarkation to bring material ashore for the construction of locks and piers. In 1912, Hvide Sande was not even a town yet. However, the establishment of the German harbour was the prerequisite for fishermen from West Jutland to settle on the sandbank later on. They settled here after 1931, when the locks between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord were built.
