The Wilmkebreekpolder is located on the west side of Amsterdam North and forms the heart of the Kadoelen district. The polder is enclosed between the Stoombootweg, the Kadoelenweg, and the high Landsmeerderdijk (part of the old Waterlandse Zeedijk) along Zijkanaal I. The polder used to be part of the extensive meadow area north of the IJ. Now the polder is completely surrounded by urban buildings. But the open Waterland, just outside the A10 ring road, is still close by.
