A wildebeest is a large species of antelope found in the grasslands and savannahs of Africa. They are known for their mass migrations.
These migrations are a spectacular natural phenomenon in which large herds of wildebeest, sometimes accompanied by zebra's and other antelope species, travel huge distances in search of fresh pasture.
Wildebeest's are grazers and feed mainly on grass. They live in large herds consisting of thousands of individuals, which protects them from predators such as lions and hyena's.
The Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of the largest game reserves in the world. The park covers an area of about 19,485 square kilometres.
