About the artwork
This shell, found on a beach in Zeeland, has beautiful beige - brown tones. I wanted to combine these shades with a contrasting colour, but still keep the holiday feeling. In the end, therefore, the colour "petrol" became the background colour for this picture.
This shell (a Boormossel) lies on a special background that has the property of being reflective. It also has a special texture, which makes it look as if the shell has been painted into the ground surface. A kind of abstract version of the shell.
The background of this picture has, as I wrote, a petrol colour. It is blended and is slightly lighter at the top than at the bottom.
If you click on the photo, you can zoom in and see how detailed the photo is. The focus in this photo is on the front of the shell as you can see. The further back you look, the blurrier the shell becomes. This gives a sense of depth to the work.
