England and Wales within the United Kingdom and Europe
England and Wales (English: England and Wales, Welsh: Cymru a Lloegr) is a part of the United Kingdom consisting of two of the four constituent countries of that kingdom: England and Wales. Both territories follow a common legal system, English law, which is not followed by the other two countries within the United Kingdom, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In effect, it is the modern successor to the old Kingdom of England.
For many administrative and legal matters, England and Wales are jointly regarded as one country. Examples include business registration and the organisation of many sports federations.
England and Wales have an area of 151,058 km² and around 59 million inhabitants (2019)
