Flushing, Zeeland, Netherlands. View of the boulevard skyline seen from the beach with a breakwater in the foreground.
Vlissingen's boulevard was completely renewed as recently as the 1990s. At one end of the boulevard stands Michiel de Ruyter, at the other extreme end stands the wind organ. Along the promenade are several restaurants and terraces where, summer and winter, the view of the sea vessels passing by is unique.
At the bottom of the promenade is an asphalt slope for walking and cycling. On the slope of Boulevard de Ruyter, between the Gevangentoren tower and the statue of Frans Naerebout, stands the longest bench. This 122-metre stainless steel bench was sponsored by local businesses and individuals, who were therefore allowed to engrave their own text on 'their meter'. From the longest bench, you have a beautiful view over the Westerschelde. Surrounding the wind organ are the Badstrand and Nollestrand, the latter with beach houses.
