About ‘Venice’ by Frank Lavooij

The Grand Canal is the main canal in Venice in Italy. It is between 30 and 70 metres wide and about 5 metres deep. It is originally the course of an ancient river, possibly a branch of the Brenta, which snaked between the marshy islets on which Venice was later built.
