The city of Venice was built on more than 120 former marshy islands. They were connected by over 400 bridges.
What would Venice be without gondolas?! The image of the canals is characterized by the gondoliers, who juggle their gondola with great skill through the narrow canals and the flat bridges. Of course, a singing gondolier on the Grand Canal is particularly romantic.
The handsomely dressed gondoliers in straw hats take guests in their jewel-like gondolas through the quiet canals that stretch tightly between the city's palaces. And at just the right time, the gondolier must bend over to avoid bumping into one of the low bridges.
