About ‘Veerplas’ by Hans Heemsbergen

The Veerplas, also known as the PTT lake, is an artificial lake in the Veerpolder directly east of Haarlem that was constructed in 1994 for recreational purposes and is part of the Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude.

It measures approx. 450 m from north to south and 400 m from west to east. On the south bank there is a purification marsh with a lot of reeds, a so-called helophyte filter. During the winter half year, large numbers of water birds, such as the greylag goose, the wigeon and the spectacled diver, can be found here and on the marshy east bank. Carps have also been released into the lake by the local angling club. On the west side of the lake there is a sandy beach about 300 m long. There is a shallow part of the lake for inexperienced swimmers. There are also sunbathing areas with toilet and shower facilities.

The lake is within walking distance of Haarlem Spaarnwoude station and is relatively close to the A9 and A200 motorways. This makes the site attractive as an event site. Since December 2006, Circus Herman Renz has been storing its tents here during the Christmas period for its annual Christmas circus.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
