About ‘Urban vision made of concrete’ by Olli Lehne

The artwork shows the Ihme Centre in Hanover - a monumental complex of concrete, steel and history. At first glance, the building appears heavy, almost forbidding, like a fortress of post-war modernism. But a closer look reveals delicate details: graffiti clinging to the façade like spontaneous thoughts, plants making their way through small niches and a cyclist barely perceptible in motion at the bottom of the picture. These details tell of life in the midst of apparent stagnation.

The inspiration for this work came during a long stay in Hanover. I was fascinated by the Ihme Centre - a place that is often described as a failed utopia. But for me, the ensemble had a different aura: it is not only a memorial to modernity, but also a projection surface for stories, dreams and hopes. My gaze wandered through the façades like a book that someone had started but never finished.

The atmosphere of the picture is cool and yet lively. There is a touch of melancholy in the air, but also a quiet dignity. I wanted to capture the moment when architecture is no longer just built space, but memory, rupture, promise.

This work stands for beauty in imperfection - for places that inspire reflection through their contradictions. It was created in a phase of searching - and found its peace precisely where others saw only concrete.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
