About ‘Tournée du Chat Noir’
Poster by Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen, titled Tournée du Chat Noir from 1896. Le Chat Noir was founded in 1881 by Rodolphe Salis[1], a son of a lemonade manufacturer and leader of a small theatre company. The establishment was first located on the Boulevard de Rochechouart and took its name from a cat Salis had found on the street while setting up the café.
