I confess I am a nightmare out on a photo shoot! My poor husband, Barnet Boy, is long suffering and can be regularly found sitting on a bench relaxing waiting for me to finish my 'thing'. The trouble is, I like to look up, look through things, look down, sideways, backwards and probably several other combinations of the above. But it is worth it! How else would have got the photograph on which this photo art piece is based?
Pienza in Tuscany, Italy, is a wonderful town that attracts lots of tourists, it's streets and alleyways teeming with visitors visiting the wonderful shops and going to marvel at the views of the Val D'Orcia from the town walls. But a glance down a non-descript alley in a residential area reveals this beautiful scene. The wonderful shadows under an archway blend together, making a tunnel through to a dwelling at the end. A black bicycle is parked casually against the wall on the left. Straigth ahead is an inviting wooden doorway in a marble surround and with a wonderfully ornate metal window at the top to allow light into the room beyond. And, as usual with these town houses with no gardens, terracotta pots with greenery are on display to brighten the area. There is a lot going on but it would be so easily missed without a glance through the alley Pienza.
