The picture shows the Tempelherrenhaus in Weimar in a gloomy, deliberately alienated depiction. The ruin with its striking tower, pointed windows and weathered façade is at the centre of the composition. Cracks and discolouration run through the masonry, while a cloudy sky bathes the scene in a diffuse, almost threatening light. The surrounding trees reinforce the impression of abandonment and transience.
The Tempelherrenhaus is a historic building in Ilmpark that has been destroyed and altered several times in the course of its history. These ruptures in the building's fabric and history were the starting point for my artistic exploration. The title "Es geht ein Riss durch..." refers to both visible and invisible traces - in architecture, time and perception.
The aim was to create an atmosphere of stillness, reflection and fragility. The picture is not only intended to document, but also to stimulate an examination of the state of places and memories.
In an interior, this work acts as a strong, contemplative accent. It is particularly suitable for rooms that allow for depth, reflection and a certain visual tension - for example in galleries, study rooms or modern living concepts with a historical reference.
