About ‘The mole of Dunkirk at night’ by Jan Hermsen

I took this photo of The Mole of Dunkirk on August 23. (historical WW2 location for the connoisseurs). Actually I had a completely different location in mind but because the weather changed I quickly went to this location.
With the heavy storm, my 4kg tripod just barely held it. I am very happy I changed location to this sinister place where in World War 2 more than 300.000 allied soldiers where saved.

This was my last or penultimate photo taken on my solo photo tour of Paris and Normandy. Because I started shooting 6 kilometers further than planned at the very last moment, I am quite satisfied with the result. Unfortunately not a happy sunset, as I had in mind, but hopefully you like the ominous scenery a I do.
