About ‘The infidel Thomas, Hendrick ter Brugghen, ca. 1622.’
The infidel Thomas, Hendrick ter Brugghen, ca. 1622.
Thomas can't believe that Christ really rose from the dead. Only when he has seen the wounds in Christ's side and hands and touched them with his own hands is he convinced. Following his great example Caravaggio, Ter Brugghen gave Christ and his disciples weathered faces and unkempt, wrinkled hands.
