The daisy with its white petals around the yellow heart is well known to everyone.
Features
If you asked a child to draw a flower, it could be a daisy. The petals that are placed around the heart are characteristic for the daisy. The daisy only grows floury or stuffed floury on one stem that grows about 30 to 60 cm. The flowers are often used in summer bouquets. They are also common in grasslands, such as roadsides and hay meadows, where they bloom in the summer months. The most famous daisy is the Spanish daisy and the shrub daisy.
History and origins
The daisy (Leucanthemum) originates from Europe, North Africa and Asia, but you can also find this popular flower in Australia and New Zealand. The name daisy is derived from the Greek Margarite meaning 'pearl'. The daisy symbolises 'innocence', but can also mean 'you make me happy'.
