This work shows the colourful landscape featuring the Salar de Quisquiro salt flat in the Jama Pass in northern Chile on the border with Argentina. This salt plain is at an altitude of about 4,000 metres on the high altitude plateau (Altiplano) of the Andes mountain range. Because of the high altitude, the air is thin and extremely clear, which can be seen in the steel-blue sky. The foreground in this work is formed by a salt plain showing interesting geometric patterns. In the background is a large volcano.
