About ‘The Princes Court in Delft, The Netherlands in black and white’ by Christa Krus

Museum Prinsenhof is a museum at the St. Agatha square in Delft, the Netherlands. Originally, is was called the St. Agatha Convent. A rich widow , Alyd Busers, and her daughter Aechte joined a group of Delft sisters in the late fourteenth century. In 1403 this group bought a house on the old canal and used it as a monastery . The group of nuns expanded in the years and after many extensions of the building , it was the largest and richest monastery within the walls of medieval Delft . From 1572 to 1584 it was converted into a court of Prince William of Orange . Therefore , it is since then known as " The Princes Court " . In 1584 William of Orange was in the Princes Court assassinated by Balthasar Gerards.
