About "The Painted Ladies 2025"

About the artwork

The Painted Ladies are an iconic row of Victorian and Edwardian houses in San Francisco, located on Steiner Street opposite Alamo Square Park. They are known for their striking architecture, detailed facades and vibrant colour palette, making them a perfect example of the "Queen Anne" style. The term "Painted Ladies" refers to houses painted in three or more complementary colours to highlight ornate details, such as bay windows, columns and decorative wood ornaments.

These houses, often depicted on postcards and in films, offer a sharp contrast to the modern San Francisco skyline in the background. They were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries during a period of urban growth in the city.

The Painted Ladies attract countless tourists every year who use the park as a vantage point for photographs. They have also become famous for their appearance in popular culture, such as in the opening scene of the sitcom Full House. While often seen as a symbol of the city, they also represent a wider movement to preserve historic architecture. Their colourful appearance and picturesque location make them an indispensable part of San Francisco's cultural heritage.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
