About ‘The New Girl with a Pearl Earring: My Creative Journey’ by Arjen Roos

Step into my world of art and creativity, where I explore the boundaries of traditional and modern art. My most recent work, "The New Girl with the Pearl Earring," is a reflection of my personal journey and my deep admiration for the classics.

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by Johannes Vermeer's masterpiece, "Girl with the Pearl Earring," Her enchanting gaze and the mystery that surrounds her have always inspired me. I challenged myself to turn this inspiration into something new, something that both pays homage to the ancient and offers space for the modern.

In "The New Girl with the Pearl Earring" you can see my personal stamp. The young woman in the portrait not only has the iconic pearl, but also her own story. Her blue-green eyes, a reflection of my admiration for Vermeer's attention to detail, look deep into the soul of the viewer.

The abstract background, with vivid red and white brushstrokes, represents my evolution as an artist. It is an expression of freedom, in which I dare to cross the boundaries of traditional art and find my creative voice.

This work is one of many steps on my journey. Previously, I created modern variants and remixes of Vermeer's masterpiece, each with a unique perspective and its own story. "The New Girl with the Pearl Earring" is a celebration of the past and an embrace of the future of art.
