About ‘The East Gate of Delft, the Netherlands’ by Christa Krus

The East Gate is the only remaining entrance of the historic Dutch city of Delft. The gate was built around 1400 , the two towers are elevated in 1600 . The East Gate consists of a land gate and a water gate connected by a wall . The white east gate bridge is a scenic drawbridge of iron and wood. The metal railings and old street lamps create a rustic picture. The gate is part of the Delft canal and connects the Rhine- Schie canal with a number of canals , including the southern canal. This photo is part of a series of black and white photography of Dutch towns and cities .
