'In the Surf of Low Countries' is my first photo project. It was made for my thesis for PZW (project independent work), a course with us at the fifth secondary where you work one year personal project within some choice projects such as science, philosophy, literature ... but also photography.
The sea has always played an important role in our history. She made us afraid, curious, powerful, powerless ... The sea always brings emotions with it, each of us has memories of the sea.
Photographing these works for me is a bit like making sand castles, which are the beginning of my love for the beach and the sea.
You will be working with existing nature where something beautiful out of trying to make. You prepare yourself well, you take along the necessary material. The older you get, the better you understand what makes sense and what does not. And best of all, your richest imagination comes up; you live your way in and you live you out completely.
But ultimately, how well prepared you are, whether you now have used a real metal shovel or just your hands, nature does just her way.
And that's what makes it exciting, time after time.
