Sunset at Lake Oldambt.
After many grey, misty, short days, January is the time where the days are lengthening again, giving room to go out more often. Off I went with the expectation that there would be some colour in the sky during sunset. I was not disappointed. No boats at the jetty yet which makes the photo more balanced and tight. A bit of wind making the water ripple. By using a slow shutter speed, the rippled water smoothes out nicely which then makes the reflection beautifully matte. The gradient filters used accentuate the sky beautifully. I was surprised how beautifully the colours of the water and sky complement each other and radiate tranquillity.
I have been photographing since I was little, but the beauty of nature is something I really started to see by actively photographing landscapes and nature. By consciously standing still and taking in your surroundings you learn to look and feel differently.
