Beautiful and stylistic photograph of the breakwaters at Westkapelle in Zeeland. By using a long shutter speed of 60 seconds, all movement in the waves and sky was smoothed out. This combined with the black and white conversion gives the photo a calm and powerful look. I had the idea for this photo in mind for a long time. The execution took some time because the timing of the tide had to be just right. If the tide was too high, too many of the breakwaters would disappear below the surface of the water. If the tide was too low, the breakwater would be partially dry which would make the photo less peaceful.
