Still-Life with Silver Jug, Gerrit Willemsz. Heda
Gerrit Heda, who died at an early age, signs only with his surname, as did his father Willem, from whom he took motifs and props, such as the silver jug, for his still lifes in the joint workshop. In contrast to his father, however, Gerret Heda prefers the portrait format due to his higher pictorial objects and moves the objects closer together. In this painting, a second light source sends a bright glow from the upper left, creating a brighter background.
