St Paul’s Cathedral, London / Reflection at sunset

by Marlika Art

In this photograph, historic and modern architecture come together: the opulent dome of St Paul’s Cathedral is reflected in the glass walls of the modern shopping centre ‘One New Change’.
When you look outwards from the centre towards the cathedral, it is beautifully reflected in the glass walls. Especially in the evening at sunset, a beautiful warm light creates a glow that bathes the cathedral in warm hues. The clouds and the blue sky are also reflected in the glass façade, creating a lovely colour contrast with the cathedral. St Paul’s Cathedral was built between 1675 and 1710 to designs by the architect Sir Christopher Wren and is still regarded today as one of the city’s most significant buildings. Its majestic dome can be seen from afar, and more recent structures, such as the Millennium Bridge, have been built around it (see my ‘London’ album). In this photograph, the vanishing point also runs from the shopping centre towards the cathedral. This creates a unique composition that unites historic and contemporary architecture.
This picture is suitable for business premises, studies, living rooms or waiting rooms. It demonstrates once again how the metropolis of London has evolved over the centuries and how modern architecture has been integrated around the many old buildings that still stand – a unique blend and a distinctive urban landscape!
