The macro photo: "Square still life: Two shells in warm colours with reflection" is a photo I took of two shells I found on the beach in Lanzarote. These two small shells have beautiful warm colours and nice ridges, creating a nice light - dark contrast as a kind of shadow play on the shells.
I chose to let the left shell "lean" on the right/bottom shell. This gives a bit more dynamism to the image. Because I have kept the depth of field in the photo quite small, it creates a sense of depth in the photo. This also creates calmness.
The colours of the shells are mainly brown and brown-orange and are warm in colour. The background is quite neutral in colour: white-greyish.
The fact that the background continues in the background creates a calm environment without a horizon line.
This work could hang beautifully in the kitchen, dining room or just above the sofa in the living room, for example!
