It seems like autumn and yet it is spring. The trees are sprouting leaves. Fog descends on the area around Lucca in Italy. It is cold, just 15 degrees. Everyone has warm clothes on. At any moment it could rain and at any moment the sun could break through. Neither will work out.
I walk along the old city wall that protects Lucca. A walk of over 4 kilometers with views of the hilly landscape of Tuscany and on the other side views of the old city. It is quiet on the wall. There are Italians jogging, tourists biking and many groups of people walking. Sometimes someone alone, usually in pairs and sometimes a family.
Today is April 25, Liberation Day in Italy. Most of the tourists I see today speak Italian. They must be free today. Despite the cold, Italians dare to picnic at a bench, on a rug or on the wall. Thick clothes on and good food. As only Italians can do.
Diana and Ronnie like to travel to areas where few tourists come.
