About "Sorano at Twilight, An Illuminated Medieval Village"

by Stefano Orazzini

About the artwork

Nestled in the heart of the Maremma region of Tuscany, Sorano stands majestically on a tufa cliff, offering a unique spectacle.

This photograph captures the magical atmosphere of the village at twilight, when the first lights of evening illuminate its stone houses and ancient walls.
Sorano, with its Etruscan origins, is a true medieval gem.

Its narrow, winding streets, noble palaces, the Aldobrandeschi Fortress, and the Romanesque cathedral tell a thousand-year-old story.

The strategic position of the village, perched on a tufa spur, made it an impregnable stronghold and an important economic and cultural center over the centuries.

In this image, the soft light of twilight envelops the village, creating a suggestive and romantic atmosphere. Shadows lengthen over the ancient walls, while the lights of the windows are reflected in the streets, creating a play of light and shadow that captivates the viewer.
