The railway bridge at the neighborhood Baanhoek located over the river Beneden Merwede is a concept in Sliedrecht. In 1885 the railroad was made and the bridge built.The original bridge consisted of two arched bridges.The bridge served for train traffic between Dordrecht and Gorinchem (now until Geldermalsen). During the second world war, the bridge was blown up on the side of Sliedrecht in 1940 and so disabled, later in 1945 the bridge was again destroyed. In 1983 the current bridge made with a movable bridge part and a bike path, so one can reach Dordrecht from Sliedrecht on the bike.
