I took this picture on a cold March morning in the gardens near the Palais Royal in Paris. My eye was caught by the symmetry of the colonnades with the lanterns, the fences and the still bare trees. Taking the picture in black and white brings out this symmetry even better. In the garden, there are benches and chairs with texts on them.
The text on this bench appealed to me: "Faites de bêtises, mais faites-les avec enthousiasme." It is a quote from Colette and means as much as, "Do silly things, but do them with enthusiasm." I guess it is not such a silly thing to do to sit here and enjoy all the beauty around you in this park. It was a bit too cold for it on this March morning. but the garden is definitely worth a visit.
You cannot visit the Palais Royal itself inside.
