About ‘Silence and light in the Javanese mountains’ by Frank Photos

Before the sun crosses the horizon, Mount Bromo and its neighbours appear in a light mist, enveloped in an orange glow. The sky, tinged with red, purple and gold, heralds the dawn of a new day in the volcanic lands of East Java. In the still-sleepy valley, a few lights flicker, silent witnesses to human life at the foot of these sleeping giants.
This moment suspended between night and day captures all the magic of Indonesia: a powerful nature that is both mystical and soothing. Mount Bromo, often shrouded in clouds and fumaroles, is revealed here in all its serenity. The contrasts between the deep shadows of the mountains and the gradual clarity of the sky create an almost painterly composition.
The air is fresh, the light wind carries the scent of sulphur and earth. All seems calm, but the ground beneath these mountains is a reminder of the strength of the inner fire that still shapes these landscapes. A moment of eternity, where the eye is lost between light, earth and silence.
