In Loenen (on the Veluwe) the sheepfold can be found with a flock of Veluwe heath sheep. Every morning the shepherd takes the flock up the Loenermark to return to the sheepfold at the end of the afternoon. Around 9 o'clock I stood in the cold waiting for the flock to leave, unfortunately that morning it took longer than expected and I was also colder than expected so I went up the Loenermark by myself. Luck was on my side because half an hour later I met the herd on the heath. The sun was slowly rising and the haze that hung there because of the cold night provided a beautiful soft light. The shepherd let the sheep graze quietly and the dogs had a moment's rest as a result. When the piece of heathland has been eaten bare, the dogs get their commands to take the flock to the next piece of heathland. But at the moment of the photo there was pure peace in the herd. A nice moment to completely unwind yourself.
