Ubbink forest: The Scottish Highlander is perhaps the most beautiful and impressive sight in the Drenthe countryside. In the picture they are grazing next to the Ubbink forest. The Ubbink Forest to the east of Gasteren is not only a beautiful walking area with surprising forest views and a rich nature, it also provides various climate-neutral products. This forest is managed by the Ubbink family. Shortly after the war three Ubbink brothers started to forest a strip of heathland: the present douglas-fir which is almost thirty metres high.
