In Drenthe, you can encounter Scottish Highland cattle on various heathlands throughout the year. They remain outdoors in both winter and summer and are used for nature conservation. Below are the best places to see them in all seasons:

🌿 Dwingelderveld Between Dwingeloo and Ruinen. One of the largest wet heathlands in Europe. Several herds roam freely here. 📅 Present all year round.

🌾 Hijkerveld Between Hooghalen and Smilde. Quiet heathland with ponds. High chance of seeing grazing Highland cattle, even in winter. 🌳 Gees Forestry Varied forest, heathland and grassland. Here you can often see them close to walking trails.

🌼 Orvelterzand Near the museum village of Orvelte. Open heathland where Highland cattle have been grazing for decades. 🌅 Doldersummerveld Part of the Drents-Friese Wold. Vast heathland with permanent herds.

When is the best time to see them? Winter: Easily visible due to bare heathland and their thick coats Spring: With calves (keep extra distance) Summer: Often active in the early morning or evening Autumn: Beautiful contrast with purple heather

⚠️ Important Keep a minimum distance of 25 metres and stay on the paths, especially if there are calves. If you like, I can recommend a specific walking route in one of these areas.

Hobby photographer and take the picture sometimes aberrant and impulsive, sometimes thoughtful...

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
