About "Scottish Highland Cattle Close-up Portrait black and white"

by Claudia Moeckel

About the artwork

The close-up shows the head of a Scottish Highland cow in impressive black and white. The animal's thick, shaggy coat, which shimmers in various shades of grey, falls wildly and disorderly over its forehead and covers its eyes. The large, curved horns are not visible in this section of the picture, which places the focus entirely on the striking coat structure and the imposing presence of the animal. The black and white photography emphasises the details of the coat and enhances the impressive aura of this majestic animal.
I am always fascinated by these cows, they have such a strong expressiveness and it gives me great pleasure to photograph them again and again. Fortunately, there is a small herd nearby that I can visit again and again. Sometimes I get the feeling that they are happy to be photographed and pose for the occasion. They radiate a wonderful peace and harmony to me. You can also feel that in the pictures when they are hanging on the wall.
