About ‘Saluki in Marrakesh’ by Erika Kaisersot

Marrakech is a city that appeals to all the senses. Warm earthy tones, intricately decorated lanterns, the scent of oriental spices and the bustling life of the medina create an atmosphere you won’t forget in a hurry. It is precisely this special feeling that I wanted to capture with this image.

At the centre sits an elegant Saluki – one of the oldest dog breeds in the world – enjoying a traditional tagine. The scene combines the beauty of Moroccan architecture with the country’s hospitality and culinary traditions. For me, this image evokes slow evenings beneath palm trees, the sounds of the markets, and those little moments of pleasure that make a journey unforgettable.

This image is designed to stir a longing for faraway places whilst radiating the tranquillity and elegance that make Marrakesh so unique. It invites you to wander in your mind through the winding alleyways, to take in the scent of mint tea and spices, and to take a little of Morocco’s magic home with you.
