Less well known than Mont Saint-Michel in France, at least on the continent, but no less spectacular: Saint Michael's Mount, located in the bay of Penzance opposite the town of Marazion.
On this afternoon in springtime dark clouds are gathering over this tidal island in Cornwall.
At low tide, the Mount can be reached by a narrow road on the beach. At high tide a ferry provides a solution.
On the island are in addition to the castle also a chapel, a subtropical garden and a small harbor with some catering facilities.
