Saint Francis beneath a Tree, Praying, Rembrandt van Rijn, 1657
Rembrandt supplemented the scene in the second state of this print with an Italian landscape in the background, which is entirely appropriate to a saint from Assisi. He did not make the additions in drypoint, but etched them into the copper plate. This sequence - etching after drypoint - was quite experimental, and it was the first and also the last time he did this.
