The designers had in mind when they designed a highly innovative ship, a ship with two classes, horizontally separated by moveable partitions and a unique double staircase that a simple modification made ??to a class cruise ship possible.
The power plant was placed on three quarters from behind and instead of chimneys ship got two modern flues. To give a streamlined profile the ship was a large deckhouse amidships placed on top of the building where the chimney would normally stand. This was a controversial ship for that time, but that profile would later prove to be and various parts of the design in later cruise to find. Groundbreaking
