Royal Air Force Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter takes off from RAF Fairford.

The Apache attack helicopter (AH-64) was originally designed to take out tanks and other (armoured) ground targets. In practice, its broad weapons package and advanced (observation) equipment make it very widely deployable.
The Royal Air Force uses the aircraft for various tasks such as:
acting as an armed scout, protecting ground troops and transport helicopters; disabling (armoured) ground targets, such as tanks, command and radar posts and artillery positions, escorting convoys and guarding and shielding areas.
