About ‘Retro Lady in Black’ by Arjen Roos

Sometimes an artwork demands a second life, a new interpretation that retains its original essence but expands on it. Retro Lady in Black is such a work - a remake of my earlier mixed media artwork Vintage Portrait.

What began as a portrait session in my photo studio grew into an intriguing interplay of photography, digital painting and textures. The hat was originally a loose photograph, carefully edited to make the woman's silhouette even more mysterious. In this reworking, AI was employed to add extra depth and texture, giving the composition even more of the charm of classic painting.

The combination of the muted colour palette, the weathered texture effect and the intensity of the red lips creates a timeless look. This work exudes elegance and nostalgia, as if straight from a bygone era, but with a contemporary twist.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
