About ‘Relaxation at Walchensee’ by Thomas Riess

Walchensee is one of the deepest (maximum depth: 190 metres) and at the same time one of the largest (16.40 km²) Alpine lakes in Germany. It is located 75 km south of Munich in the Bavarian Prealps, at 800 m above sea level and with its entire surface area including the island of Sassau in the municipality of Kochel am See. To the east and south, its shore borders the municipality of Jachenau. The Walchensee fills a tectonic depression that forms part of the Bavarian syncline and consists of rocks from the upper Alpine Triassic (main dolomite, plate limestones, Kössen layers). The lake owes its depth of 190 metres to this tectonic formation. The north-western rocky shore clearly shows the very steep bedding of the rock layers towards the lake. The formation by mountain-forming forces leads to the conclusion that the Walchensee is one of the oldest lakes in Germany. During the ice ages, the morphology of the area and thus also of Lake Walchensee was shaped several times by glaciers of the Isar-Loisach glacier.

Made my first experiences with photography as an employee at CANON and now, after many stations, take photos digitally with the Pentax K1 MK II and various lenses. My main focus is difficult to define. Actually everything that comes in front of my lens and doesn't look like a snapshot. I always try to tell a little story with my pictures or at least to get the viewer's imagination going.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
